On 11 June 2024, the Southwest Hungarian Engineering Cluster and the iFood Cluster signed a cooperation agreement, which will lay the foundations for joint advocacy activities, projects and encourage cluster member companies to cooperate.
The IFood Cluster, headquartered in Kaposvár, encompasses 40 members including domestic food manufacturers, agri-food industry service providers and suppliers, as well as related higher education, vocational training institutions and chambers. The 44 members of the Southwest Hungarian Engineering Cluster cover the entire spectrum of mechanical engineering: metal processing and manufacturing, machine building, vehicle body manufacturing, tooling, on-site commissioning, full process engineering system maintenance, automation services, Industry 4.0 solutions, sensor technology and education. Among the SWHEC members, SOMAPAK Ltd. and Sampo Ltd. manufacture equipment specifically for the food industry. Hidrofilt Ltd. is able to develop food plants with its water treatment technology, while KONTAKT-Elektro Ltd. and KONTAKT-Engineering Ltd. can offer automation and machine manufacturing solutions.
